Liebster Award +10 Things About Me!

I am honored to say that I was nominated for the Liebster blog award by Kati over at Glitz & Gold.  The Liebster award showcases smaller sized blogs who have fewer than 200 followers as a way to get their blog out there and seen by others.  Once you are nominated for the award, you are asked to nominate 3-5 of your favorite blogs with under 200 followers and answer a few questions about yourself.  So, you'll get to know some things about me that you might not have already known!

1.) What was your first job?

I worked at an antique shop when I was 14.  My great aunt owned it, so it was an easy way for me to make my own money-plus I loved looking at all the fascinating antiques and learned a ton about it on the way!

2.) If you could be any celebrity for a day who would it be and why?

I would have loved to have been Leighton Meester on the set of Gossip Girl.  I can only imagine the incredible clothes she got to wear and keep for being Blair Waldorf!  Not to mention the Harry Winston engagement ring from Chuck:) Although I'm sure she didn't get to keep that haha :)

3.) What is your go to perfume scent?

Marc by Marc Jacobs! Actually, this just reminded me that I'm out of it and need to get more! ;)

4.) What is your guilty pleasure?

Definitely Instagram!! I'm obsessed with checking it!  My husband is always telling me to put down my phone or iPad and get off Instagram haha :)

5.) Who is your fashion icon?

My fashion icon is Olivia Palermo.  She has the best fashion sense and can accessorize like nobody's business!  She so effortlessly pulls off any outfit down to every last detail.  I love how she mixes feminine with edgy, but always makes it look classic with staple pieces, such as a blazer or purse.  

6.) What is the next thing you are dying to add to your wardrobe?

I'm dying to get my hands on the Fan Fringe Necklace in vibrant fushia from J.Crew.  I love how fun it is and adore the pops of color and how they so unexpectantly compliment each other!

7.) Do you prefer going to classes at the gym or doing your own routine?

I like to mix it up at the gym.  When I was growing up, my dad and brother were really into exercise and fitness- they both taught me how to work the gym and use the machines for the areas I wanted to target.  My typical routine would be to warm up for 20 minutes on the elliptical, stretch and do ab work for another 20 minutes and then proceed with machines or free weights targeting one muscle group at a time.  I do love taking classes, but I'm a bit shy when I'm alone.  I prefer to take a class with a buddy :)

8.) What is your favorite snack?

I love chocolate with peanut butter in any form- candy, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, froyo- if it has both chocolate and PB, I'm in!

9.) What is your idea of the perfect night out with the ladies?

Growing up on Long Island gave me a love for going to the wineries with my friends.  My perfect day with girlfriends would be to head out east to the wineries on LI, spend the day wine tasting and having girl talk, then go to dinner somewhere on the water with a live band- THE PERFECT DAY!

10.) What got you into blogging?

I considered starting a blog for about 2 years now.  At first, I wanted to blog about healthy living- eating right and exercise, but at the time, my routine was very boring.  I would eat the same things every week and do the same P90X exercises every week.  I wasn't sure that would catch too many people's attention and it would get repetitive for me VERY quickly.  Instagram and the need to save some money really prompted me to begin blogging about fashion.  I've always had the "Passion for Fashion" but it wasn't until Instagram that I realized people were interested in seeing what I was wearing. January-April is my husband's busy season (he's a CPA and partner at a firm) so I had a ton of extra time on my hands to begin blogging.  It has been the best decision I've made in a while.  I'm having a blast doing it, plus it gives me a new hobby while my husband is working such long, hard hours. Win, win.
